Information unit is the classification of information.
The lowest information unit is switch. Switch means the information is either existence or not (0 and 1) or a pair of opposite meaning or characteristic such as negative or positive.

The second level of information unit is a datum. A datum is not necessarily monotonic. It could be in between 0 and 1. It is a complex of switch.
The third level is information. Information is an association of data.
The fourth level is knowledge. Knowledge is an association of information, data, and switch. Knowledge is not linear and not only in 3 dimentional.
It is a network of information.

The fifth level of information unit is science. Science is a protocol of knowledge, information, data, and switches. It has a direction and order in the way it stores information objects.

The sixth level of information unit is insight. Insight is an instant presence of information objects ususally in the form of networks.  
The seventh level of information unit is the universe. The universe is a simple piece of information unit with physical and information processing laws utilizing energy in time axis.
